Killzone 2: Multiplayer
posted by Alex on 8/19/2008

I love the animation in this game. Whoever worked on that, I tip my hat to you sir. Before you click the link, I must warn you that the video has live chatter from both teams so be warned that there is some cussing going on. That being said, the footage looks superb and most of all, fun as hell:

BCR
posted by Alex on 8/19/2008

This is the last BCR video I will be posting, I promise! I love the fact that GRIN, based in Gothenburg, Barcelona developed the new BCR because not only is the game amazing, the soundtrack is fucking badass. What I love about the Euros, is that they share my love for techno/trance. The new soundtrack features all of the old BC themes mixed with some kick ass techno beats.

The video I posted last week was awesome but this video makes me bounce my head. Check it:

I'm about 4 levels away from finishing the game. I've beaten many of the challenge rooms but some have caused so much aggravation that it makes me want to choke my table. Yes, I know I can't technically choke my table but godamit, I'm gonna try. Playing this game has really made me wish for better surround sound and a new house with plenty of space between us and the neighbors. Why? Because the Techno during the game is just booming. I love how, depending on which room you enter, the music will sometimes sound as if you're in the bathroom of a really loud club. This bothers Wendy because of the fact that you can only hear the bass but I love little details like that.

The game can be hard at times because of the timing needed in order to land perfect hook shots. But, when you do and you're in full swing, it is a lot of fun. The game also retains the 80s action movie stereotype which is hilarious. I love the one-liners and how the characters interact with each other. You should see the banter between "Radd" and all of the bosses. Quite amusing.

I'll be trying to finish this up before thursday when Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty hits Playstation Network. <3 that game.

Bionic Commando Evolution Trailer

Fucking wow:

I love how the trailer shows gameplay from all three versions of the game. If I was on the fence before, that new footage has made me a believer.

Bionic Commando Rearmed
posted by Alex on 8/13/2008

If you never played it, you've atleast heard about it:

Bionic Commando was an old Capcom classic that came out for the first Nintendo Entertainment System. What made BC fun was that the game didn't include a "jump" button but rather, a grapple that allowed you to swing from almost anything. As a kid I remember only playing the game for a little while and then quitting because of how hard it was...as were so many other titles at the time.

Well, come tomorrow, Capcom is set to re-release Bionic Commando: Rearmed for Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. This time, the 2d classic shooter comes with upgraded 3d visuals that looks absolutely stunning.

Not only has the whole game been remade using a new graphics engine, it is also set to include offline co-op. Having seen the game in motion has pretty much convinced me to download it tomorrow. For $10 you get a re-imagined classic that you can also enjoy with a buddy. Not only has the core gameplay been remade, but they've also included the top-down sections of the old shooter also:

This downloadable title is set to pave the way for the new Bionic Commando that is releasing early next year. Which will be fully 3d:

I'm still on the fence for this new game but I'm glad that the remake of the old one is getting high critical praises. If remakes of old classic games containing classic gameplay with upgraded visuals is becoming a trend, please remake Guerrilla War:

That game was fucking fun!

Buster & Franklin
posted by Alex on 8/9/2008

Wendy and I have been watching Arrested Development for the last few weeks. We're almost done with season 2 and at first, we weren't really big on it. It was cool but it wasn't really blowing my mind as I had been led to believe. Still, we gave it a chance and even though it isn't consistently funny as Scrubs, it has its rolling-on-floor-laughing moments. I literally laugh so hard I cry with some of the shit they do in the show.

At first, my favorite was Gob. He was just off-the-wall stupid and always made up these hilarious conspiracies. Buster though, is quickly contending for my favorite. He's the 30 something year old son who hasn't been allowed to grow up. Imagine an adult still doing teenager things and you'll get the picture. It isn't so much his fault as it is his mothers. Last night he had one of those scenes where we both died of laughter. He picks up the family's "black" puppet and says the funniest shit, but...the way he looks at the puppet afterwards is absolutely priceless.

It might go over your heads but I felt compelled to share.
